Learning to be Human

In this episode, Matthew and Lizi discuss Ephesians 2:17-22 and the concept that we are both being built and building as followers of Jesus. We are all being shaped by something! As we trust in Jesus and receive His love, we build life, truth and love into others. 

Why do we struggle to feel content? Why do we believe the grass is greener on the other side of the fence? Is it even possible to live in a state of contentment? Matthew and Lizi talk about their own struggles with contentment and look at Paul's words about the subject in Philippians.

We live in a world at war and there is no neutral ground for the follower of Jesus. Matthew and Lizi look at Ephesians 6 and discuss what it looks like to walk in the armor of God. 

What are we made for? What is our purpose? Matthew and Lizi explore these ideas and look into God's original mandate for humanity. The third essential need we all share is to live with purpose, to have a mission, and it's no wonder, because God made us this way! 

Lizi and Matthew explore the second of three essentials to being human, as seen in the beginning of Genesis: Intimacy. We are made to know and be known, to love and be loved, by our Maker and by other people. Relationships can be a challenge, though. It takes effort to have the kind of honest, intimate communion we are made for. 

Lizi and Matthew Bailey explore the first of three essential elements involved in being human: Identity. How do we establish our sense of identity? Is it self-determined or given? What does God say about who we are? How do we pursue living truly as image-bearers?
